Whisper of the Heart

  Whisper of the Heart  is a Japanese animated  romance film which first released on July 15, 1995. The story was original from a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Aoi Hiiragi.
Whisper of the Heart is directed by Kondo Yoshifumi, produced by the Studio Ghibli.

 Characters

Shizuku Tsukishima

Shizuku is a girl who loves to read and write poems or essays. She go to library to read very often. After she met Seiji, she started to think her future goal and determined to be a writer.

Amasawa Seiji

Seiji is a 15 years old high school student. Before Shizuku met him, Seiji already knew about her and have good feeling on her.
In order to get Shizuku's attention, he read many books to let his name appeared on library cards. So that when Shizuku read books, she can see Seiji's name on those cards.

He was also very good at play the violin. But his dream is to become a violin craftman.
  After graduated, he went to Italy to train himself and learn professional skills of produce violins.

Seiji's Grandfather

He is the owner of an antique shop, called "Earth House". He is also Seiji's grandfather.
He can understand Shizuku and Seiji their feeling of pursue their dreams. He also told Shizuku his memories when he was young. Later his memories gave Shizuku  the original idea of writing fiction.

  Shizuku's Father
 

He is Shizuku's Father and works in library.
He cares his daughters very much but he always respects their decisions. 

When facing conflicts between family members, he will deal with problems in a rational way. 

Shizuku's mother

She is a housewife but very busy at preparing for the graduate school. 

Shizuku's Older Sister

She is a university student and have a job as a cram school teacher.

She cares about Shizuku so much, about her study, her grades and her future goal.

Although very often she will condemn Shizuku to correct her behaviors, but  that is the way she cares for her younger sister.

 Baron

Seiji's grandfather his favorite collection. Because the doll has connection with Seiji's grandfather memories in the past.

Plot

  Shizuku Tsukishima is a junior high school student who loves reading and writing.

One day, she found that all the library cards from different books she borrowed, have a same name. This person called,"Amasawa Seiji", he read so much and earlier than her. So, Shizuku started to wonder who will the person be.......

 Reflection

 

  Whisper of the Heart is my favorite Japanese animated film. Since the first time I watch the movie when I was studied in junior high school, I was touched by the story.

  The movie first released in 1995 that was the time technology, computer and Internet not so wild spread. So we can understand at that time people still use library card, which we need to sign our name on those paper cards if we want to borrow books. So that let Shizuku and Seiji meet by chance. 

  Although now the times have changed, we enjoy the conveniences that technology brought to us. But I still yearn for the times in Whisper of the Heart. To me that is the age of innocence.

The times that technology haven't develop so far but still convenient. And things still remained simple but  sincere.

  
  Another element that the film really attracted me and left me a deep impression was the love between Shizuku and Seiji.  Even they are just  junior high school student and high school student, they found out their own interests. And have the courage to challenge themselves, pursue their dreams.

   
  The most valuable thing of their love is that leading each other to be more mature. Both of them have improve themselves and became even better after they met.  Shizuku and Seiji, they support and cherish one another. And encourage each other to pursue their goal. I think that is most precious thing that this movie had told me. Loving the right one is who lead you become even better.
